• The Nasca Lines are ancient geoglyphs located in the Nasca Desert of Peru, believed to have been created by the Nasca culture around 1,000–2,000 years ago. Stretching across the desert plains, the lines depict animals, plants, and geometric shapes, including monkeys, whales, birds, and flowers. Best viewed from the air, these designs were made by removing the top layer of soil to reveal lighter sand beneath. The purpose of the lines is still debated, with theories ranging from religious rituals and astronomical observations to agricultural symbols.
