Day 1

New York 명문대 탐방 1일차

▶ Individual departure by plane from each regional airport *Please arrive at the airport 3 hours before departure time!
▶ Arrival at New York Airport (JFK, LGA, EWR) and meet with guide

JFK Airport: Terminal 4, 1st floor, departure at 19:30
LGA Airport: Baggage Claim at each terminal, departure at 20:00

※ If you want individual pickup from JFK/LGA Airport, there is an additional cost of $70 per person (minimum of 2 people).

If you are arriving by air, you must confirm tour availability with our agent before purchasing your airline ticket. The tour may be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not met. Unless you have booked a private tour separately, all tours are shared tours and will be operated together with other travelers. If the tour cannot operate, we do not assume responsibility for any flight or accommodation-related costs beyond the refund policy stated in our terms and conditions. Your reservation is considered confirmed only after tour availability has been verified, full payment has been made, and you have received written confirmation of your reservation number and meeting location by email or message. If you fail to provide required information requested by our agent (including flight details and meeting location information) in a timely manner, participation may be denied without refund. No refunds or compensation will be provided if you are unable to join the tour due to personal reasons such as missing required documents or flight delays. We do not provide individual reminders regarding essential travel documents (passport, required travel authorizations, etc.); you are solely responsible for preparing these in advance. Unless otherwise advised, guide/driver tips and optional activity fees must be paid in cash in local currency on site. If an optional activity must be reserved in advance, you must apply before departure; if participation is not possible on site, we may not be able to assist. Prices for optional tours and admission fees may change depending on dates and local supplier conditions, and the tour sequence may be adjusted or optional activities may not operate due to local circumstances. For certain options, children under 12 may participate only when accompanied by a guardian. If, on the day of the tour, a participant is deemed to have health conditions that may pose a risk, participation in the tour and/or optional activities may be denied, and such cases are not eligible for a refund. For most optional tours (except certain options), safety training or protective equipment may not be provided; participants must exercise caution, and assistance may be limited depending on on-site circumstances. The itinerary may include shopping stops not listed in the schedule; purchases are strictly voluntary. Vehicles may be changed during the tour depending on on-site conditions. Child car seats are not provided, and even if you bring your own, usage may not be possible. If you will bring more than one suitcase per person, you must inform us in advance. Depending on the number of participants, the vehicle, guide, and meeting time may change; you must maintain a reliable method of contact until the tour date. If you are traveling from Korea, mobile roaming is recommended. Travel insurance is optional and must be purchased separately if desired. Please refrain from leaving the group and follow basic etiquette. Please do not make personal requests to, or use inappropriate language toward, the guide or staff. You are responsible for safeguarding valuables and cash; we are not responsible for loss of valuables and assistance may be limited. The itinerary may be changed or partially cancelled without prior notice due to personal negligence, acts of God, force majeure, local conditions, road closures, natural disasters, vehicle breakdown, or theft; we shall not be liable for any resulting losses in accordance with common industry practice. When staying at hotels, smoking is strictly prohibited inside all hotel buildings, and excessive drinking should be avoided. If hotel property is damaged, noise complaints are made, or smoking is detected, the hotel may impose a penalty fee of 1,000 or more in local currency, and you are responsible for such charges. Depending on room availability, a twin room may be assigned as a king-size bed room with one bed. Hotel rooms generally provide two beds; for example, four guests in a quad room will share two beds. Hotels listed in the itinerary may be changed to equivalent or lower-category hotels without prior notice due to local circumstances.

Each passenger should prepare one suitcase per person. If you have additional luggage, please make sure to inform your travel consultant in advance. 나에게 편지를 쓰는 건 정말 오랜만인 것 같다. 이번 로키산맥 3박 4일 여행을 하면서 또 한 번 인간이 얼마나 작은 존재인지, 그리고 이 세상이 얼마나 넓은지 느끼게 되었다. 첫날 장거리 버스를 타고 이동하는데 창밖으로 펼쳐진 대자연을 보며 눈물이 날 뻔했다. 여행을 정말 많이 다녀봤지만, 이렇게 대자연 앞에서 선물 같은 감동을 받은 건 오랜만이었다. 한국에서의 일상은 회사, 집, 운동의 반복이다. 출퇴근 시간 꽉 막힌 지하철 3호선 안에서 사람과 살짝 부딪혀도 “죄송합니다”라는 말이 자연스럽게 오가지 않는 것이 익숙해졌고, 거리를 걷다 보면 사람보다 차가 우선인 삶에 익숙해져 있었다. 하지만 캐나다에서는 장애인, 어린이, 노인, 여성 등 사람을 먼저 배려하는 문화가 너무나 자연스러웠다. 당연한 것들이지만 나는 그동안 그런 가치들을 조금 무심하게 지나치고 있었던 것 같다. 회사에 가면 늘 경쟁 속에서 살아온 나는 무엇이 가장 중요한지 잠시 잊고 있었던 것 같다. 한국에서는 몇 살에 무엇을 해야 하고, 어디를 나와야 하고, 언제 결혼해야 하고, 언제 아이를 낳아야 하는지에 대한 사회적 기준들이 존재한다. 하지만 여행을 할 때마다 그런 것들이 왜 중요한지 다시 생각하게 된다. 내 인생의 주인공은 나인데, 왜 늘 다른 사람들과 비교하며 살아왔을까. 잠시 일상에서 벗어나 한 걸음 떨어져 생각해 보면 사실 별것 아닌 일들인데, 여행은 늘 그런 깨달음을 준다. 3박 4일 로키 투어 동안 나의 버킷리스트였던 5대 호수 중 하나인 페이토 호수를 보지 못한 것은 아쉬웠다. 하지만 그건 다음에 다시 밴프에 오라는 운명 같은 신호라고 생각한다. 나는 지금까지 정말 많은 여행을 다녔지만, 패키지여행을 갈 때마다 “이번 가이드는 어떨까, 좋은 분이었으면 좋겠다”는 생각을 한다. 그리고 이번 여행에서 캐서린 씨를 만나게 되어 정말 감사했다. 캐나다의 역사부터 곰이 계절마다 무엇을 먹고 사는지, 알파인존·서브알파인존·몬테인존의 차이, 세계 3대 국립공원 이야기까지 설명해 주실 때마다 단순히 정보를 전달하는 것이 아니라 진심으로 좋아하고 사랑하는 마음이 느껴졌다. 그래서 저도 메모를 하며 들을 정도로 재미있고 인상 깊었다. 특히 처음 만난 저희에게 자신의 인생 이야기까지 솔직하게 들려주셨던 부분이 가장 기억에 남는다. 진심은 결국 사람의 마음을 움직인다는 것을 다시 한 번 느꼈다. 아름다운 스팟을 지날 때마다 틀어주셨던 센스 있는 음악도 잊을 수 없다. 오랜 시간 버스를 타고 이동했지만 전혀 지루하지 않았고, 잠도 잊을 만큼 귀가 즐거웠다. 지금은 여행 마지막 날을 앞두고 비가 내리는 버스 안에서 이 글을 쓰고 있다. 괜히 조금 센치해진다. 돈을 쓸 때는 여행, 기부, 건강에 써야 한다고 말씀하셨던 여행작가의 이야기에 저도 100% 공감한다. 사실 저도 남편과 대학교 3학년 때 서유럽 여행을 함께 갔다가 눈이 맞아 결혼한 지 어느덧 3년 차가 되었다. 그래서인지 여행이 주는 감동이 더욱 크게 다가오는 것 같다. 앞으로도 평생 함께할 배우자와 이번 여행을 오래도록 기억할 것이다. 다시 일상으로 돌아가 바쁜 하루를 보내다가도 문득 이번 여행이 떠오르고, 그때의 감동과 추억을 떠올리며 미소 짓게 될 것 같다. 정말 잊지 못할 여행이었다. 캐서린 씨, 진심으로 감사합니다. 늘 건강하시고 행복하세요. 🤍 P.S. 그리고 토미 씨! 3박 4일 동안 저희의 생명을 책임지고 안전하게 운전해 주셔서 정말 감사합니다. 긴 이동 거리에도 항상 안전하게 목적지까지 데려다주신 덕분에 마음 편하게 여행을 즐길 수 있었습니다. 캐서린 씨와 토미 씨 덕분에 더욱 특별하고 행복한 로키 여행이 되었습니다. 두 분 모두 늘 건강하시고 행복하시길 바랍니다.
